A couple of weeks ago I drove to my home town to visit my parents and take care of some wedding preperations. The wedding is going to be near their place but I live 3 1/2 hours away. The weekend went mostly as planned but I didn't get very far on the drive home before my car broke down. I had it towed in and was given the bad news that the inverter for the hybrid system had burned out, the part had to be ordered from the other side of the country and it was going to cost several thousand dollars.
Clearly this is not what you want to hear 6 weeks before your wedding.
I asked my fiance what he wanted to do and he said go ahead and fix it. So we did. The whole episode turned what was supposed to be a two day trip into two unplanned weeks away. I finally picked the car up Friday and drove straight back home but the truly bad news is that that same night the warning light came back on. I got it into the mechanic here as soon as I could and have just been told that it needs another part for an unrelated problem! (At a cost of $600.)
We are talking about delaying this repair but I was counting on being able to drive back and forth to get everything ready. I am supposed to make another trip in a couple of weeks for a bridal shower and was planning a bunch of things like a dress fitting during that trip. Now I'm scared to drive.
Never mind hiring a limo for the big day. I just was a car that works!
