Wedding Woes

WTH.

The city requires dogs get licensed. No big deal.

They require a current rabies certificate. No big deal.

They also require a "Certificate of Sterilization."

REQUIRE.

I don't have a certificate of sterilization for Toby. I'll have to go find a vet and have him examined JUST to get a damn certificate.

Please tell me why they couldn't just take a quick peek under the hood. It's pretty obvious that he's, uh... sterilized.

Gah.

What if you want to breed them?  Can your old vet send something?

If you tell them the dog's spayed or neutered, they require a certificate as proof. If they're not altered, they just charge you an extra fee.

My vet gave me the certificate when she got spayed.  Can you call the place that neutered him and ask them to fax you a copy?

No. He was neutered before we got him at the shelter.

Your old vet's records should indicate his balllessness.  Ask if they can send you a general Toby report and if CA would accept such a thing.

    Oh, ugh.  That sucks.

How about the shelter?  Do they keep records?

Vet visits can get so friggin expensive.  It seems silly to have to make one just to prove you dog lost his nuts.

Can you buy a form certificate at Staples and print one out yourself?  Like "Toby Tobe is hereby awarded this CERTIFICATE OF DEPRECIATION for leaving his balls behind."

That's a stupendous idea, Ms. Leg. I wonder if they give bonus points for creativity...?

Or you could take a picture of his ball-less-ness and send it along with the check?

I like Nico's idea, but they have to send you to the vet to make sure you aren't just strapping his boys down to save a little change.  Is the extra fee more than the cost of the vet appointment?
