Wedding Woes

(Since it's slow) The Tale of Two Landlords

Our house has two owners who are co-landlording over us.

Landlord #1 is awesome. He told us when we moved in to make a list of everything that was broken/busted/not working/needing replaced, and he'd take care of it, no questions asked. We did, and he followed up with his end of the bargain. He's just an all-around nice guy who genuinely seems to care about his tenants. (We had plumbing problems today, and he was a DREAM to get it fixed.)

Landlord #2 is a raging, lazyass douchebag. One of the things on our initial list was that there was a ton of crap in the garage that made it so that we couldn't park in it. We asked that it be removed.

#2 shows up and says, "Oh, uh, well you'll just need to call the city. They'll come and pick it up." I asked him who was going to pay for it and he hemmed and hawed and finally said that it would be charged to our garbage pickup. Uh, no. I told him that we weren't paying for his stuff to be removed. Nice try.

Another item was the realtor's sign in the front yard. For the first week we lived here, we got at least one realtor/day knocking on our door, asking about the house. It was a PITA more than anything. We asked them to get it removed. #1 was extremely apologetic and said that #2 would come out to collect it.

#2 shows up and says, "Oh, uh, all you have to do is unscrew the sign and then yank the pole out of the yard." The pole was a 5' tall 4x4" that was about a foot deep in the yard. There was no way we could "yank" it out of the ground. I gave him the side eye and told him as much. He once again hemmed and hawed and OMG! Like Magic! produced a shovel from his trunk to dig it up himself.

#1 = Happily and quickly gets schit done.
#2 = Tries to get other people to get his schit done (and pay for it, too).

I know who we'll be calling for any further needs.

At least you have one who's responsive.

Our landlord is the FIL of a friend. He's really nice and we're getting a great deal. BUT, he's been saying since February 09 that he's going to install a sprinkler system and patio in the back yard. All we have are waist-high weeds and trenches where he started and gave up on the DIY sprinklers.

Sounds like they're related and #1 is always covering #2's ass.  But that's just my projection.
