Wedding Woes

WDYT?

New man and MIL have been dating a year.  They actually plan a get away to a local small town on a Sunday night and are spending the night.

That's not the WDYT part.

Apparently man bought MIL a ring (NOT AN ENGAGEMENT RING! -per new man), and showed it to SIL (older one) who promptly told all the other sibs about it.

Ring is:

Diamond in center (MIL's birth stone), SIL (13y.o.) birthstone on one side and his daughter's birthstone on the other.

WDYT?

I think that is one ducked up mother's ring.

Sounds like a joining of the family type ring.  Why else would he have both girls' stones on it?

I hope it's engraved with "NOT AN ENGAGEMENT RING," because I can see how that might be confusing.

SIL was all "good luck on getting your birthstone on the ring next time" to H.

We won't know until today.  I am assuming she'll LOOOVE it.

But then again, she does love a piggy bank.

    A step-mother promise ring?

There should be a warning sign posted at the jewelry store, something like "Do not purchase a ring unless the recepient is or will soon be your spouse.  It's just confusing otherwise, yo."
