Wedding Woes

Let's talk more about InksWell's philandering.

Were you always somewhat religious, or did that only happen after the assault?  And, having had sex before, what made you all right with waiting for marriage?  Did you have any conflicted feelings about that?

(Mr. Kuus and I are a couple where one wanted to wait for marriage and one didn't, which is why this interests me.)

I was always religious in the way that my Mom made me go to church, I was president of the Youthgroup, and I thought that what made me a good person was what I didn't do.

I had a serious HS boyfriend, we got engaged theverysecond we got out of HS, and I guess I though, what the hey. He ended up marrying the maid of honor 3 whole months before our planned wedding day. That girl saved me a heap 'o' trouble, I should write her a card.

I went wild for a year, put myself in dangerous situations and got hurt. I had a crew of Jersey Shore style friends who did the exact same thing. I decided that I needed away from the destructive friends, and I took myself far away to play soccer at an east coast school.

As far as becoming re-religious;  It's hard to explain. It's like liking grapejuice as a kid, and then growing up to be a sommelier, knowing the difference between all the good/bad/in between concoctions you might get out of one grape. I kind of realised I had been drinking Boonesfarm, and real Christianity is (*insert good wine here*). I decided I wasn't going to be with anyone but my future H, so we were mostly on the same page. There were times like "seriously? we live together, what are we waiting for?" but we didn't (even though it was sometimes literally only because we didn't have any contraception).

The maid of honor thing sounds rough.  I can see why you went wild; losing your best friend and what you thought was the love of your life in one killing stroke would make anyone a little nuts.

Yup, not an excuse, mind you, but it was weird. I had to find a whole nother crowd. And it wasn't a good one. Actually, girl and I met about 6 months after and talked it out. Not like "we'll be besties again" but "this town isn't big enough for us to be at girl war". I never had the stmaina required for truly epic girl fights.

How on earth did she justify doing that to a friend?

The guy and I's relationship was rocky anyway, I was maturing way faster than he was. They started talking about their relationship problems with eachother, and that's how they bonded. They got drunk at a party and hooked up, we broke up the next day. We broke up, he quit the job, dropped out of school, and moved in with her within a week. They had had an emotional relationship for a while, so It moved fast. I was invited to the B party..... THAT was some fun times. MTV should have had a camera crew there.

Oh, I can imagine your face. Probably the same one I make at myself when I think about it. I did go, becuase I was young, stupid, and desperate to prove I was mature enough to get over it. That's the thing I think about when I practice my pearl clutching face in the mirror.
