Wedding Woes

Anyone do a bird release? I'm having a lot of trouble with this.

Does anyone know where I can get a vendor to help with a bird release in the Philly area? Every since I was a little girl I've dreamed about the church doors opening and my groom and I standing there as a flock of doves fly up into the air.

Money is not a problem.  I will pay whatever because this is the most important thing to my wedding.  I'm make my guests eat tuna salad if that is what it takes to save the money for this.  But I want someone who will do a sample display for me, kind of a trial run with the photographer in attendance so that we can practice "the" photo.  Can anyone help me??

My mother in law to be told me that I shouldn't do it because of the "mess" but I think the bird can hold it for the 20 seconds it will take for them to fly away.

  • This all just made me chuckle.

    Mostly the goat.

But I loved it all either way.

First of all, the people that do this are normally professional pigeon handlers... the birds are homing pigeons... they are transported to the site, released at the appropriate time, and fly home to their coop.  So first of all, they get to stretch their wings quite a bit once they are released, it's not like you order the birds and someone just sends them to you to stuff in a closet until your big day. The life of these birds is probably about a thousand times better than the life of the chicken or beef cow that all of you probably eat on a regular basis.  I believe they usually are allowed to come and go at will from their coops, as they will always return home, and they have to exercise their wings to be able to fly long distances.  I have chickens and ducks, and as soon as they know where home is (and food), they can free range all over the place.  No fences.
