Anyone use Mint.com?

TurboTax is trying to get me to sign up and it looks like it might be like quicken, a program I keep trying to use and want to like but just can't past how it is organized.

Thoughts on mint.com? Likes, dislikes, just stick with excel?

Re: Anyone use Mint.com?

  • I like it, but I hate having to go back in and recategorizing purchases.  IMO, Muvico will always be entertainment, so wtf can't it just code it that way every time?

It has its +s and it's -s.  Try it out.  It's free.  (shrug)  I think if I had more money to do things with, I'd find it more beneficial.

  • I tried to use mint, but some of our accounts are at local banks and the site didn't recognize them.  I know Money Matters likes mint and I've seen good things from ohter money people.
  • We used to use it and like it well enough - but if you're good with excel, you can just make your own spreadsheets and customize however you'd like.

Now we bank with PNC Bank and use their own system called "Virtual Wallet" and love it.
  • Thanks, I guess it doesn't hurt to try since it is free. I think I am just being to picky about what I am looking for.

  • I've had issues with it recognizing accounts as well. When I was with bank of america, it would recognize the account twice - once as BofA South Dakota and once as BofA Missouri (or something). And it couldn't find my ING money at all.

We also use a local bank that I haven't even tried to connect yet, but it doesn't connect to anything else, so I don't have high hopes of that.

And meh. We also don't really have budgets for things. They cost what they cost, and if we're spending too much, we look at where we can cut back. ::cough::cable::cough::

  • Aside from the complaints DG mentioned, people seem to like it. I've never used it. Wells Fargo does a good job with their acct manager services, so I don't feel like I need anything else. Plus, not that I am the only one with access to my account again, I feel like I know where everything is going.
