Wedding Woes

Booster seats until age 12.

12!

I'm sorry, if I'm physically capable of conceiving a child, I shouldn't be in a booster seat. Damn. I guess the kids can't make fun of each other if they all look like idiots with overprotective parents, but hell, I think I'd make fun of middle-schoolers in booster seats.

Thank God this wasn't a recommendation when I was a kid. My mom would've made me and my brother follow it.

    WHAT?! 12?!

The kiddo is 10 and I cannot imagine him being in a booster.  He's damn near as tall as me.  He's taller than MIL.

In the car, Kuus. In the backseat, of course - no one under 13 should EVAR ride in the front, apparently. Not even if they're about to hurl and you have no Dramamine.

I heard this on NPR this morning. We're also supposed to keep babies rear-facing until age 2, and they were saying, "No child should be out of a booster seat until they fit into an adult shoulder belt."

To which I say, HA! I don't fit in shoulder belts, morons. Most of them are too tall, and unless the car has and adjuster thingee, I can't fix that. They also slide across my chest and never stay put; I spend half my time in the car yanking the seat belt out of my decapitation zone.

, my MIL should be on one re: height...and weight.

she never would but...honestly, I'm afraid of what will happen, what w/ her bone disease and what-not, if she gets in an accident.

Ah.  Yeah, 12 is way too old for that kind of thing.

Also, I wonder if the pediatricians' association or whoever realizes that sometimes, kids are in cars with no backseats. Is that going to be illegal now?

Well, they just made it law here in CO that Bacon has to be in a booster till age 8. I'm pretty sure she'll be too tall for the thing by then, but what do I know? I'm only her mother.

(Of course, just like stop signs, we don't pay any damn attention.)
