His name is Pope Francis. Nobody will ever be John Paul. I loved me some Pope John Paul II. I got to see him when he came to New Orleans in the 80's. I'm not Catholic, but you didn't have to be to feel his spirit.

I guess we just grew up with JPII, so that's always our model. It still seems weird to have a non-JPII pope. 

And you know I have no remaining love for the Catholic Church in general, but I'll give JPII credit for just absolutely radiating peace and calm. Eerie, even. Darth Pope never did that. This guy seems better than Ratzinger, for sure, though mostly from first pics he just looks a little bit uncomfortable in his new skin (clothes).

I'm a former Catholic, now Presbyterian, and this is exactly why I loved JPII. When he passed my college friends in the Kentucky Bible Belt didn't understand my sadness. The world was a better place with his spirit in it.
