at work, I am 'the man' (not in 'you da man', more in the one they stick it to).
I work in the area where people can come get tutoring. RUles are simple: sign in and out [time in, ID #, time out, teacher, class taken], show staff your ID, no food/drink/kids/loudness, don't abuse the resources. (and in exchange for following those rules, you get to get unlimited free tutoring, use all our resources, etc).
The rules may be petty but I need people to follow them because otherwise the boss has my head. The sign in/out/ID thing is especially important because the funding for everything we offer (including the 3 people tutoring right now) is based on usage and I HAVE been audited and have to show that I didn't just make up names.
People get pissy abouty this and want to 'stick it to the man' who is demanding their info. whatev, their choices are follow the rules or leave. And they can complain to my boss--I'm just the enforcer.
SO this obnoxious guy who is a bit 'off' has been pissy about sign in/sign out from day 1. I won['t cut him any slack. So StudentWorker, when obnoxious guy tried just putting his name down today, called him back and told him he had to put down time/instructor/etc. He picked up the pen and moved it over the paper...
Yeah, we just started imputting the AM data...the guy took the pen and, since you have to stand oddly to see exactly what is written, just PRETENDED to write and left it blank.
Seriously?
You can object but if he's being petty, I'll be petty back.
He's SO on my list (and that's never a good thing). Un-Officially he's not allowed to volunteer for any of our events...which sucks for him because he needs the extra credit. But I control those events and I"m not going to have him here. ANd the dean now has his info (from me--boss wants me to send her info on problem students so she's not blindsided) as a 'person who raises my hackles' so he is SO screwed if he ever needs anything.
And oficially, all the staff will be standing there, hovering, and watching him sign in EVERY time.
