Wedding Woes

Morning!

Did everyone have a good weekend?

Ours was good.  Lots of hangout time.  A fun girls night.  Baked zucchini bread.  Today it's 4 women against 8 kids at the pool!  Luckily I'm the only one with non-swimmers.

I moped around all weekend. I found out on Friday that I can't have the corrective vision surgery I was being tested for because the cell count in my eyes is way too low. This was the primary surgery used for people who can't have Lasik because of severity of the prescription, so I'm still pretty depressed about it. Hoping to talk to the doctor today about my other options.

The rest of the weekend was full of retail therapy and lots of movies.

    Boo, Arb, that sucks.

My weekend was awesome, great birthday party.  Sadly H didn't get any pictures of my hotness, but it was so much fun.  The rest of the weekend was pretty much recuperating.  Then got a nice talking to about finances.

More like acting.  I take full responsibility, if you want all details I will give them, but they're nothing earth-shattering.

Nah, but shame on you.  ;)  You won't stop the lectures until you wear those big girl panties full time, you know.

I give myself talkings to about finances because I act like a child quite frequently, too.    I'm glad that H doesn't give me a hard time about it but sad that he is often worse about the childish spending.

He's more upset because if I don't get my spending in check, my money all goes to y, when he wants and I want it to go to z...and then I get all "yes yes, I can do that" and then...FAIL.

It's disappointing and a little disheartening.

I think that is EXACTLY it, Nico...big girl panties.  I need to find a pair.

Not bad, other than the AC issue. It broke on Friday. DH's parents came over to watch A while I went to the movies and dinner with 2 of my coworkers.

I came home after the movie, packed a bag and spent the night at their house. AC guy came at 3, after I was given a 10-2 window. That pretty much killed the day.

Yesterday was fun. Gym, laundry and tidying, then shopping with a friend and A.

    Can't complain.

Friday night SUCKED. I was awake until 2 working on the presentation I was giving at 10. Then Dex woke up at 2:45. Then again at 3:45, when he came into our bed. Everyone finally fell back to sleep by about 4:30, then my alarm went off at 6:30 so I could get up, shower, pack my goodies for the day, and start the 45 minute drive to the conference.  Ugh. Oh, and Dex decided that 7:00 would be a good time to wake up, so that was fun.

Conference went well. Got stuck with one weird guy for a good chunk of it, but my talk was good. Only 2 people reviewed it, but both gave it 4 stars out of 5. One said, "One of the most useful and beneficial sessions today."  Awesome. I'm giving the same talk twice more in the next month.

OH! and my fan handout thingies were a success. Everyone took one, and a few people took extras to bring back to the office. One person said, "Who made these?!?!!!"  #winning. :)

Saturday night I was spent. I tried to just lie down on the sofa amidst the chaos, but after I got climbed on about 20 times too many, H said I should just go lie down. I fully intended to get back up and help with bath and bed, but I crashed hard and wasn't aware of the outside world again until 10:30 when H came to bed.

Unfortunately, that meant I had to get up with Dex at 6:30 Sunday morning.

Sunday aftenroon, MIL and FIL came over to have cake & ice cream for MIL's birthday. Low key and fun. I didn't even clean - only the guest toilet and the dining room table. If they don't like it, they can clean it themselves.

Last night was pretty good, too. Dex was asleep by 8:40.  We watched a couple of episodes of Louie, then I gave up some BCBC.

I am, however, ridiculously behind on all of my actual billable work, and we are headed OOT in 2 short days.  Somehow, I refuse to be stressed about it.

Yeah, that was long. But I wanted to AW the conference reviews. :)

    Busy weekend for us.
Saturday was my grandpa's 83rd b-day.   We went to the nursing home to celebrate with him.   I haven't seen him since Christmas even though he's close by.   He is not the grandpa I remember, he has dementia so bad that he doesn't even know who most of us are and will get beligerant about things - - once in a while he'll get violent with my dad or the workers.  At the party, he thought my aunt was his girlfriend and started yelling at her about not coming to see him anymore.   Aunt sees him at least once a week even though she lives out of town.
But other than that brief confusion (which just breaks my aunts heart) he was in very good spirits and very "with it" during the party.   I forgot how much he loves seeing DD and nephew so of course I feel awful for not visiting more often - it's just so hard to deal with.    This post really became a downer and that wasn't my intention - we really had a good weekend.
Anyway, after the party and a quick nap, we had a birthday party with my other side of the family.   My mom's 60th is tomorrow, so we went out saturday night on my aunt and uncles pontoon boat and had snacks and cake.   DD loved being on the boat and had a blast.   I didn't doubt that she'd enjoy the boat, but I was a liitle concerned about her being annoyed with the life jacket and throw a tantrum.   (She did not.  Yay!)  It was a beautiful night and other than the boat almost sinking because there were too many people in the front - - nobody would listen to me - - we really had a nice time.
Sunday we all slept in until 10am.   That never happens!   Then we went to the Ohio State Fair.    My brother played guitar with his church's band there and we went to support him.   And eat.   We had deep fried buckeyes (chocolate/peanut butter candies) that were AWESOME, pizza, fries, ice cream, gyros, chicken on a stick, and some other fried crap.   And I'm totally paying for it today.   I feel like CRAP.   Oh well.
Fun weekend - busy week ahead - followed by another fun weekend - rinse, repeat, etc, etc.  I look forward to things slowing down in September.

Deep fried buckeyes?  Who invented this genius combo?

O-face:  when we find the person that invented it, I think DH and I might start making out with them immediately - - male or female - it doesn't matter.    I personally thought the idea of them was disgusting, but once I tried it, I was IN LOVE.    SO GOOD!
