Wedding Woes

oface and others who have hair

i want flat, straight bangs like zoey deschanel.

instead, i end up with weird poufy bangs like tay tay.

HOW DO I FIX THIS?  do i need a flat iron?  if so, which one?  please don't make me spend a frillion dollars.

does this also mean that i need to get haircuts more frequently than twice a year?

Re: oface and others who have hair

  • Bangs require hair cuts.  I am growing them out for this reason.  Mine had about a 2 wk period where they looked good and didn't annoy me.
  • I think you can blow them down, right?  Also a flat iron will help.  I have a $30 from Target (Remington, I think) that gets hotter and works better than the nicer one I have from Sally.

I tried to have zoey bangs in 2010. If I didn't flat iron them they looked awful. I needed to round brush them, but i didn't learn that in time. I flat ironed them. When my niece saw me she said, "Auntie, are you wearing a wig?"

I didn't cut my bangs for an entire year.

  • Actually I think you want to dry them in the opposite direction until they're about 70% dry.  Then let them dry, and use a skinny flat iron to fix.  If you blow them straight down they will look really really flat.

  • hmm. maybe that was my problem. I hate how flat the top of my hair is.

  • I had the same issue last year.  Bangs:

    No bangs:

I just love that picture.  HAHAHA!

  • also, i have a weird part just off center so i look like countess von weirdo.  well, because i am asian, i guess i look like weirdo-san.

how do i fix THAT?  do i have to get "more" bangs cut?

    :: SIGH ::

    having hair is hard, yo.

  • Yes...you need more cut.  Have her part it further back...don't do the..."I can't commit" bangs.

  • .. dammit.

  • I know.  If they're too thin, no matter how you style them, they will look stringy.
    image
  • YES YES YES THEY LOOK STRINGY THAT IS MY PROBLEM.

everything else looks fine, but then you get to my bangs and BAM -- vagrant.

  • Plus, I know dry shampoo helps a lot with texture and creating that blocky look at your bangs.

dry shampoo is not an option, sadly.  i got the bangs to deal with some of my psoriasis; the bangs help camouflage the dryness right at the hairline.

  • Have you tried Lush snake oil?  Just wondering.

    Or Eucerin calming shampoo?

  • my dermo asks that i use a pyrithione zinc shampoo, so i'm using the garnier one.

i just read reviews for the lush one, and it sounds horrifying!

  • Horrifying?  LOL.

I need to see these reviews.

  • Have your stylist cut more bangs.  Mine are pretty chunky, and while they aren't "real" bangs (they swoop to the side) they look a lot better from when I first got them cut
