Wedding Woes

Letter of apology needed?

I am having my wedding at the courthouse because that is where my FI and I met and I am an attorney.  The local paper ran an article today  on the front page, above the fold about how inappropriate it is for me to have the wedding there (w/o using my name).  The judges apparently had to write a letter of apology for permitting me to use the space.  A person interviewed said that I was using the sheriffs officers during their timeoff or when they could be doing actual work, which I get, but when I asked to use the courthouse the judges and I didn't know I would be required to have security there.  I can't wait for the backlash on this one!! (I live in a small town).  I really just want to cry at this point and don't want to go back to the courthouse to appear in front of the judges.

So my question - do I know write a letter of apology to the judges, etc.????

There was an above-the-fold article in your local paper about you going to a JOP for your wedding?

Move to a bigger city. We generally have actual worries to worry about.

    Also: People still read papers?

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

Were the officers working on their day off?  If so, what other "actual work" should they have been doing?  If they were being used for security during their normal shift, then maybe I can see the point, but lots of cities allow officers to pick up additional security work on their off days.

Sounds like a reporter with too much time on their hands.

So, if you met at the courthouse and you are an attorney, what does that make your FI?

My FI not there was for any criminal reason:)  He owns his own business and was there on a small claims court case.  I thought he was hot and I stalked him:)

I am just ticked that people made such a big deal out of this.  I am not the first attorney to get married there on a Saturday.  And amazingly the police didn't have a problem with the first wedding (probably because the attorney was marrying a cop.)  GGRR!
