Wedding Woes

Period to begin on wedding day!

So I've been tracking my period online the last few months and lo and behold, I am to get my period the day of the wedding!  It's been fairly accurate, save for my last period in which I spotted for 5 days before it was scheduled to begin.  I do have some birth control to change it up a bit but I was planning on starting it the day after the wedding because I didn't want to mess with any fluctuations or whatnot.  It's yasmin so perhaps it won't make me so bloated.  Anyone have natural tips to halt their period, or am I just gonna have to deal with mother nature?? :)  It's not that I don't like it, it's just more of the symptoms I have when I'm about to have it...bloated, chubby feeling face, eat everything in sight, and I tend to gain a few pounds during it...ugh!

While I don't recommend taking anything without consulting your doctor.  There are water pills out there.  When you gain weigh from your period, a lot of it is water weigh.  There are pills that will help you not retain water.  But as I said I would talk to your doctor and this is not something you should just try the day of.  Have you taken birth control before?  Usually within the first two months you are on a set schedule, that is kinda the point of birth control, aside from preventing pregnancy.  Birth Control is probably your best bet for controlling when you get your period.

Get pregnant? But seriously I would consult your doctor before messing with any herbal supplements or anything like that.  BC can be funny for the first few months so unless you are already regular on it, it probably won't help you.

I planned this out months ago, so my period will end one week before the wedding.  With your wedding 6 weeks away, I'm not sure there's much you can do about it at this point besides getting pregnant.
With regards to symptoms, you should really consider asking your doctor about using a diuretic (water pill) to minimize water retention and bloating.  You might be surprised at their willingness to use it for a one-time event.  Using something like Gas-X for the day of and day before the wedding could also flatten your tummy.  Other than that, just make sure you're well-hydrated, diligent with facial cleansing, and get plenty of sleep.  GL.

I think you should consider the Yasmin. If you start it two weeks before your wedding, you will have birth control protection on your wedding night. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but the birth control pills create a natural process in your body by making the body think it is already pregnant. it's not all that unnatural. I have taken Yasmin for a long time, and I highly recommend it. plus it helps to clear up your skin for your big day!

Is there a way that you can skip your placebo week while on Yasmin? I'm on Ortho tricyclen, and I've skipped my period by just not going off the pill for a week

I feel you.  When I set my date, my cycle was ending about 2 weeks before the wedding.  However, I have PCOS and endometriosis, so my cycles go crazy every once in a while.  As it stands right now, it looks like I'll skip April, so if I stay on the every other month schedule I seem to be on lately, I might be ok.  Or I might start the day of, because it's been in the late 20's the past few months that I actually had a period.  I can't take birth control because of a clotting problem, and there are a ton of herbal supplements I can't take due to being on blood thinner.  Thanks for posting this though because this has been something I've been worrying about!  After reading the PP's, I'm going to ask my doctor if I can try water pills or Gas-X, and just hope it won't be as heavy as the blood thinner normally makes it... I'm terrified of getting a huge red stain on the back of my dress lol.

i would honestly suggest going to your ob/gyn and getting different birth control. maybe you haven't heard about the high numbers of women experiencing extreme side effects from yazmin, yaz, and the other off shoots of those bc's......heart attacks, strokes, depression, mood swings, even pancreatitis. these are potential side effects of all bc, but yaz/yazmin seems to have much higher than normal reported levels. there is literally a hundred different types of bc pills out there so it's not like it's your only option.

i was on yaz for a little while and had very bad cramping, headaches and mood swings. i switched to seasonique and it's been fine ever since. i also can regulate when i get my period by just skipping the low dose/iron pills or taking them early, whatever i want. you can do that with pretty much any single dose bc.

i'm having the same problem! haha
my wedding is may 29th, and i'm on my period RIGHT NOW. but i also started BC last month. so i'm hoping that my period is normal for once and comes the week before the week of the wedding. if it doesn't i'll be soooo upset!

    Good luck!
    i'm praying.

    Def. talk to your OBGYN--
Another option may be to get the depo. There are many ladies that have the "side effect" of not getting their period from this. There are MANY other side effects that each woman will worry about so talk you the professionals! I think weight gain is one of the biggest fears from women, but that doesn't happen overnight and can be managed!

    Good luck!
