Car seat question f/u

The reason I asked is that once a month or so, someone on my local posts about someone they saw (usually at daycare, but sometimes just out in public or whatever) that was doin' it wrong when it came to car seat safety and it's always posted with, "Oh noes! What should I do/have done?!"  Most people are either, "Call the cops!" or "Tell the director!"   I just think, "MYOB?"

The posts come off as quite judgy and like these people are on the lookout for this isht.

I'm in the Hmo camp, I'm too busy handling DefConn that I really don't notice what other people do with their kids.

If it was the same offender I would tell the director.  If it's always someone/thing different I wonder if SHE's doing it wrong.  If it really is that widespread of an epidemic maybe she should see abot putting on a class.
  • Oh it's a different person every time.  It's just...odd to me that people pay so much attention to other people and what they are doing with their kids. And that they don't know how to judge a situation and decide if they need to do something or not.

I just don't pay that much attention, I guess.
  • i'd mind my own business - they'll figure it out when they're rear-ended and their toddler goes throught the windshield.

Really? In the Nanny States of America? That doesn't shock me at all. <div>

yeah, people are nosy, it'd have to be a pretty big infraction for me to notice. but, i AM nosy and if it were a repeated thing, i would probably say something. i wouldn't call the cops though, or make a big thing about it.

the after school crowd is fairly small because parents all show up at different times to get their kids. i do notice when people leave their cars idling, and that irritates me to the point that i may end up telling the director, but that's just me.

<div>Really? I mean, I know you like your cold, dead heart reputation, but when the toddler does go through the windshield, are you going to sit back and think "Well, that's what they get?" Without even an ounce of, "Wow. I knew this would happen, and I didn't do a single thing to try to prevent it?"</div>

    Right there with you DG.

When I have to question myself I ask how I would feel if something happened and I hadn't spoken up.  I never notice things like loose straps or if a kid is old enough to be in x,y,z carseat, but I will notice if they are young and in nothing.

Same here.  This is the reason I reported the vehicle that was creepily driving around the elementary school a few years ago.
