People must be scared of their bad press, because, holy cow, there are some cheap flights out there. 

I booked two flights on American last week for what i thought was a great rate and those same flights are now $81 cheaper/person.  Is there still a provision that will let me get at least part of my money refunded?

Grrr, I'm really annoyed with myself for checking.  I was very happy with the price I paid until I saw this.

Well, you can usually cancel/change hotels with no penalty until the day before you arrive. So yeah, try for that.

I did check hotels and prices haven't dropped.  I am weak.

But dang it, I want my $160 back from American.  I called and the lady was polite when she told me to suck it.

ONE of them, when I booked, had the 'if someone gets this flight cheaper, we'll pay the difference" thing.

Oh, and I only booked the hotel through hotwire, not the plane.  I don't like doing airfare blind.  I want to know which airline and exact times and I don't want to be flying one leg on one airline and the next leg on another.  But I've always had really good luck with hotels on hotwire as long as you read the reviews.

you should be able to get that in a credit depending on the fare you paid, it's worth a call to the airline to ask.

as for hotels, even if you prepay, there should be a cancel policy in place - so if the price goes down, you might be able to get the rate adjujsted. unless it's non refundable, but then (unless you book through a travel agent) you could call the front desk, ask for a supervisor and ask them to adjust the rate.

if you have a travel agent, make them do this work for you.

ETA - i just read that you used hotwire. if the rate goes down, just call them.

If I remember correctly, if you buy through Travelocity and the price goes down, they refund you the difference.
