Accessorize me

OK, so I bought this dress. It looks semi-dowdy in this pic, but I think wearing it adds a lot. I felt great in it, so now it's mine.

Trying to decide how to accessorize. I don't actually have any purple shoes, so I'm back to plain nude pumps. I also feel like I could dress it down with a denim jacket, but then the pumps wouldn't work. The site suggests black wedge espadrilles, but I still don't know about the denim.

Ideas? (This is conference-wear, btw, plus maybe the occasional work meeting here if the client is casual enough and I can dress it up.)

Do you have a non-denim jacket that would dress it up?  Boots?  I like that print a lot.

I think one of those cute new sweater shrugs that are only half length would be really pretty with that, but one with a more plain collar rather than the ruffly one.  Black or purple or even a white to summer it up.  Plus, it'd pull your eyes up, so it wouldn't feel quite so "dowdy" to you maybe.  Then a nice pump or heel, I'd probably go for a boring black (or maybe the nude, it'd depend on the shoe) with that just b/c the print is the busy part.

I don't think I'd put a denim jacket with it unless you want a casual look.  I tend to err on the side of caution though, so I wouldn't ever wear denim for a conference, but you know your field better than me.

Oh, there will almost certainly be people there in jeans with holes or ripped up hems. It would be more about trying not to overdress.

I'll try a white/ivory shrug thing that I have & see how it looks. I already have the denim, so that was where that came from. I like seeing the pics with the nude heels (though mine are patent leather, if that matters... I migh thave another tan-ish one that would work.)  I checked my espadrille inventory - kelly green and brown. Oh well. The good news is I'll be at my mom's for a few dasy beforehand, and she may well have some black espadrilles. I'm more worried about black against my white legs than I am about it going with the outfit.

YAY! I have 2 days worth of conference stuff picked out!  Only 2-3 more days to cover, which I can probably do with various jeans combinations.

I'm *almost* as panicky about this one as I am about the one I cancelled. I'll definitely be accessorizing with xanax. Only have 7 left, though.

pretty dress. to dress it up, i'd go with a white/ivoryblack  sweater.
