Weather in Mid-May, Olympia Area?

We chose the Schmidt house in Tumwater to be our wedding venue. It has a beautiful lawn that would be absolutely perfect for an outdoor ceremony...If the weather is nice. I don't live in Tumwater so I was wondering, What's the weather like in Mid-May? The venue is indoor/outdoor and so moving the guests indoors is not a problem (we actually have an idea of how to funnel the guests from the ceremony room, out onto the covered porch for the receiving line and back inside the parlor and dining room for the reception). So, how should I do this? Should I plan to do an outdoor wedding, and move people indoors if the weather is awful? Or should I plan to do an indoor wedding, and set up outside if the weather is nice?

I would definitely have a backup plan for an outdoor wedding. I've been thinking a lot about this lately too. It is Washington and no matter how much we know about the weather during our time of year, it can just start raining. AND with this winter/spring being so wacky, who knows what the rest will be like. Is your wedding this year or next?? If next, I'd keep my eye out this May. Otherwise def have  a back up plan.

That place looks gorgeous! Great check!

Next May. I actually really like the indoor area for the ceremony, too. I would just rather make use of the gorgeous grounds.

I agree! I think that an outdoor ceremony will be gorgeous. Atleast you know that you like the other option if necessary. I'd just talk it over with your planners if you have them. Or whoever will help set up for the wedding.

I would plan for rain, and hope for better.  I just think anywhere in the Pacific Northwest it's so unpredictable (even still in May!) that you can't do much more than that.

I work down there, and it's like Seattle, Tacoma, etc. - unpredictable and often rainy, but gorgeous when it's nice.

Do you have a DOC?  If not, I would recommend getting one, just in case for your own sanity.

I'm also getting married at an outdoor/indoor venue in May (next year).  I would <3 to get married outside, but with this being Western WA, who knows if it will rain or not.  So I decided to get a DOC, so they can help set up and deal with Plan B if the weather is meh and all the other DOC stuff.
