Hey - I'm catching up a little.

I know everyone recommended the wii, but they are discontinuing them this fall and introducing a new kinect-like system.
Also, re: ellipticals - how tall is your H? (Yes, I am too lazy to look up the baptism pics.)
You may have height issues regardless, but one thing people really often neglect to think about in elliptical shopping is stride length. If you're tall, you really need the longer stride length (21"), which is almost exclusively on the more expensive machines (like $1500+). Some of the really nice machines have an adjustable stride length - handy if one partner is tall and the other is short.
Also, we got a wii instead of an elliptical. We like it but almost never use it, mostly because we'd have to do it after the kids go to sleep to minimize destruction, and, well, you know our kids never sleep.
and ugh @ 7' basements. Our old basement had height issues. I couldn't do any step aerobics that required me to stand on the step AND lift my arms straight over my head. Thanks to the joys of new construction, we sprung for a 9' pour for this basement. It is awesome.
