Wedding Woes

Do you skype?

I seem to be the last skype hold out in my family.  I don't know why, but they are all about it and I can't seem to get on board.

So do you skype?  Pros and Cons?

I have an account, but don't really get on it often, because I'd have to use Mr. Arb's computer (I don't have a mic/cam, his has them built in).     I only ever one person online anyway, my friend who is going to school in Italy.  I'd probably use it more if I could talk to other people.

I've only skyped a few times.  We like it.  Skyping with my nieces is hysterical.

They like to show us their toys and tell us jokes from their joke books.

H's family uses skype to be able to open presents with the brother/sister-in-law/nieces up in NJ. I love it and think it's a wonderful idea. It's not as great as being together but better than just the phone.

Guess I'm going to need to breakdown and do it.  We skyped Christmas with my brother this year and I know he likes to skype with everyone else.  Even my mom skypes my nieces.

Then my sister tells a story of my brother popping up on skype.  He had a scruffy beard and big bags under his eyes.  The camera was pointed up and apparently it was a really, really bad angle.  She said he scared the crap out of her.  She though some homeless man had stolen his computer.   <----this makes me leery.

Was your brother hungover or something?

No!  He was just particularly tired and at a particularyl bad angle.  Apparently every one of his 43 years on earth were showing...and this is what I fear.

Yeah, I try not to look at myself while I'm skyping because I get self conscious.

Yes, I use it to call H at work sometimes and to talk to my nieces/nephews.  Although the last time I tried to call my sister and nieces in MA I didnt' get an answer (just once) and then my sister called back to ask me to quit bugging them because her daughters are getting too many calls.  I was sad that my one call puts me into the same bucket as the 8 year old neighbor girl who won't leave them alone.  I was already scared to call people and now I am never the one making the call.

My mom tries to do it but their connection is so bad that it is just one long, frustrating "can you hear/see me now???" conversation.

I don't really have a use for it personally, but if I did I would be open to using it.   As long as I have makeup on...

I have FaceTime on my iPod that I'm excited to use.  I just don't know anyone else who has it.

DH uses skype to talk to his friends while they play online games.   Nerds.  ;)

I never have, but our friends who are on a LDR use it all the time. I see how it would work for them.

My parents use it all the time to talk to my brother and his family in China.  They think it's the best thing in the world.  I've used it while at their house to talk to them and it's fun.  We don't have it at home.
