Did you have fun?

It was fun.  I drank a lot of wine, so that was pretty awesome.  

I think DH was pissed at me about something, so he was less than gregarious, but overall it was a fun night. 

Still, we were in bed asleep by about 11:30. We didn't even fool around or anything (see? he was pissed).  Then I slept until noon, which was awesome.

Went shoe shopping on my way to pick up the kiddos, and I was back home with them by about 4:45 yesterday. 

I *totally* regret all of the misery I put myself through beforehand.  I got there. I looked nice. Nobody cared.  It's like stressing over what to wear to someone else's wedding - no one's looking at you anyway. 

So, lesson learned, I hope.  Next time I will just do my best with the resources I have.  I should have just bought the dress and spanx and called it done. 

I also made DH buy a suit for this thing.  Well, not for this specifically - the guy doesn't own a single suit or even a sportcoat, and he really just needs to dress up for things like this or weddings or job interviews, etc.  So, while it turns out he would have been just fine without a true suit for this occasion, I'm glad he has one now. 

Still, between his suit and alterations, my dress, my spanx, my hair, nails, and makeup, we spent WAY too much money on what turned out to be about 4 hours of medium-level fun.  And we didn't even get our picture taken together, because there was no one to take one.  Bummer.

That money you spent? It's an investment. Now you have all the materials on hand to go to a fancy event and you won't have to stress.
