Wedding Woes

s/o dogs & jobs

I realized this weekend that animal rescue is more important to me than I thought. I figured when we moved here, I would pretty much close that chapter of my life, leaving it behind in Oklahoma. I figured we'd attend events like we did before and maybe do some volunteering, but I really, really miss having a foster.

I told H and figured he'd be all, "HELL NO" to the idea, but he said let's talk to the people after he moves down here and see what we can do. I know if we say we want to foster, they'll give us one. Foster homes are what every rescue needs. Well, that and a boat load of cash.

So, we'll see what happens.

H has also started applying for jobs. As has been the case, most of the postings are for part-time work, but if he can get a pt job here, plus his online stuff, he'll be making what he was before, and it would be nice not to have to take a hit financially and for him to keep working. He loves this work, it's too bad he can't get settled into a full-time gig. If that happened, we'd start looking for a house, I am sure.

AND IF WE HAVE A HOUSE, I CAN HAVE ALL THE PUGS I WANT. <- not really, but I am going to say it anyways ;)

<div>What you need is to get to a certain number of pugs.  After say, 5, your H won't notice if it's 6 or 11.</div>

We have decided that two is easier than one, but if there are three, you might as well have 12. At one time we had Fonzie, Jake and someone else and it was a mad house. Ah....Fonzie.....he was special.

just an FYI - depending on your H's salary with his online stuff, he may be able to collect unemployment on the job that he has to leave for the move.

it wouldn't hurt to apply and see.

moving due to a spouse's job-related relocation is a qualifying factor for unemployment. unfortunately if he's making over $$$ per week with one PT job, he may not qualify or may only qualify for a reduced amount.

Good luck to the Mr for job hunting.  Yay for the rescue and fosterting too.  It's a good, good thing you two are doing.

Barbie - when I looked into that when we moved, they said they quitting for a spouse's relocation wasn't a qualifying factor, because it is done voluntarily. If you could FBM that info, that would be fantastic.

That's funny, and great news.  :)  I agree, 2 seems easier than one.  Or maybe I'm delusional.

OFace - two entertain each other. Jake starts to get a little cabin fever when he is all by himself.

Yes, it seems that our 2nd dog is not ours but really our 1st dog's.

With the fosters, it varied. Some belonged to Jake, some belonged to me and Woody was 100% H's.

i sent you some info. the easiest thing for him to do would be file and take it from there.

DK was able to collect from PA when he left his job to move to TX, and my co-worker's wife collected from DE when they made the move. (he and i came down here at the same time)

what you may need to end up justifying is the reason that YOU moved for work - i.e. it was a necessary career move / more opportunity / better pay / etc. - and that he was essentially forced to move as well for your opportunity.
