can you please explain to me the difference between a port and a shunt?  i am familiar with a shunt, not so much with a port.

Isn't a shunt for relieving pressure (as in brain injury), while a port is for access (as in chemotherapy)?

Shunts open something, ports are for access so that veins dont get damaged or collapse.
