If you still want to do the karaoke thing, Yakatori Boy on 12th and Race has private karaoke rooms and a general karaoke bar (in which you can reserve tables for guaranteed space).  I've been to a few parties there with a few different groups of people, and would just advise to keep track of your time in the room (they'll let you stay longer and charge accordingly).  And if you have a big group, I'd recommend asking the server in the room to break the group into smaller groups for purposes of checks.  The first few times I went I ended up having to split an astronomial bill (I'm talking over $1000 for groups ranging from 10-20) because it was impossible to figure out what each individual owed....last time I had to go there I asked for small group checks and ended up only paying for what FI and I consumed (which was considerably less than the $50-100pp we've had to shell out previously).

Oh that's a shame!  Have you looked into L'Etage?  It's on 6th and Bainbridge (just about two blocks south of South), and is known for it's dancing.  I've  never been, but have a bunch of friends who love it there.  It's right above Beau Monde, which is a great crepe place if you're interested in dinner or dessert beforehand.  A friend of mine had a bday party there last year and said something about free cover charge if you eat at Beau Monde first.

What about Jolly's Piano bar? It's kinda small, but a fun place for bach parties- which seem to get the most attention from the entertainers. There are a bunch of other bars within walking distance from there too.

I was just at Jolly's for a bachelorette party this weekend.  It was a great time, but it was all bachelorette parties, there were about 6 of them!
