So, I don't know about anyone else but I am very tired of people asking me about my wedding, the flowers the dress, the place, everything and wanting to know how much it costs! Why does that matter? If my FI and I don't spend $50,000 and put ourselves into debt are we less married than the people who do? We have a budget wedding, we are paying for it ourselves. Because my dress didn't cost over $4000 am I less of a bride? I just don't understand people's mentality! I don't feel the need to put our family into debt and not be able to get our bills paid because all of our money is going into the wedding! Where do people get off thinking that the more money you spend defines the wedding and the marriage!? Because my ring cost less than a freaking house are we less engaged? I'm sorry, but a giant diamond is not important to me, it doesn't mean he loves me less. It doesn't make it any less of a wedding ring! My dress is beautiful, it's exactly what I wanted, but it didn't cost a down payment. It's not less of a wedding dress than one that did. My centerpieces are going to be DIY. I'm not paying someone to come in, set up some flowers and then take them away. I'm saving money there but some people think that's ridiculous not to have a professional come in and do it for me...oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that the amount of flowers you have on the tables defines a good wedding reception. We are having a small wedding, close friends and family. Some people can't understand why I'm not inviting everyone I've ever met. I'm happy to marry my FI, but I want it to be intimate and I don't want people who I hung out with a couple times a few years ago there. We aren't close, get over it. I'm happy for the people who have the family and the resources to have a huge, extravagant wedding, more power to you! The FI and I want something small and intimate, outdoorsy and rustic...I'm really tired of people judging me for that and I'm quickly running out of nice ways to say it's not of your business!
