Wedding Woes

Morning. How was the weekend?

Not so great here.  MILhad a stroke.  They found a blockage in her left corotid so she'll be on blood thinners for a month then have surgery.  She and FIL normally take a month or two and wander around the country in an RV.  They had to cancel that.  The docs also told her if she ever wants to go back to visit Colorado she'll need to take oxygen and do some other stuff.  The son that is out there said he wouldn't come back here (with his 2 children) unless she lost 20 pounds.  That's pretty crappy.  I want to punch him.

The good news of the weekend...M2 took two unassisted steps.  Well, I'm not sure that's really good news.

Re: Morning. How was the weekend?

  • WTF @ her son?  He needs to be punched...hard.

Is she out of the hospital yet?  Do they think she can make a full recovery?

    YAY M2!!  :)

Our weekend was OK.  Friday night we hung out and watched, "The Blind Side".  Loved it.

Saturday, I went out for lunch, shopping, and to see "One for the Money" with my sisters.  Afterward, I met DH and the boys over at my IL's house for FIL's bday.  We hung out at the IL's until midnight or so, and then DH, DefConn, and I went home.  The kiddo slept over.

Sunday, we went back to my IL's  to collect the kiddo and our second car.  We went grocery shopping and then just hung out the rest of the day/evening.

It was an all right evening.
  • The weekend was good.  I got some awesome deals at Target on Friday, my parents came up to visit on Saturday, taxes were finalized on Saturday, and didn't do a whole lot yesterday.

DD1 is doing really well with the PT.  I actually have a question, but I'll make a separate post.
  • Blue Man group was awesome Friday night and ended the evening at our favorite restaurant that specializes in crepes.  So good.

Saturday was messing around town.  I had a PMeg moment and almost punched the old man in front of me for taking the last package of pullet eggs @ the Farmers Market who then turned around and giggled like it was funny.  MFer, I've been standing out here for 20 minutes too and that was the only thing I wanted!  Went with Mom and bought a Sodastream and spent an hour playing with flavor combinations.

The weather here was so amazing Sunday we went out to a park with the dogs and messed about for hours.  The dogs slept like they were dead and *checks* are still sleeping.

And this is my last Monday at this soul-sucking job.  I cannot wait for Friday.  Cannot.  Wait!!! <----not a page.  ;)
  • Weekend was great.  Since H has an "elbow strain" he wasn't allowed to work, which meant I could actually spend some time with him.

We spent Saturday doing lunch, movie, dinner, going away party.  Movie was good (safehouse), dinner was good with spots of weird service, but I hope we go back.

Sunday was more low key.  I think I occupied the couch a majority of the day.  THANK JEEBUS.  I love couch occupying.

  • Friday is going to be an awesome day!  I love my sodastream.

MIL is getting out of the hospital today.  They think she should be able to make a full recovery with some therapy.
  • saturday we hung out at home, did some chores, watched the hockey game, and some movie.

sunday DK went food shopping, and i went to kohl's and got some deals, and then we took wolverine to the playground.

Kohl's trip was awesome - bought 4 pairs of clearance pants for work (2 that were one size smaller and fit now, and 2 that will fit well in about -10lbs), a lightweight shrug short sleeved sweater, a tank top, a few pairs of panties, and 2 picture frames (matted for 8x10), for ~100 (with an additional $20 in Kohl's cash back).
  • Pretty decent

Bought new car seats since DD's infant seat is pretty much done.  Got my hairs cut.  Also went to one of those huge biannual kid/baby stuff consignment sales.  Mainly got clothes, shoes and a few toys that looked cool and in good condition.  Fortunately DD doesn't really need much "equipment" anymore, so it was nice not have to deal with the "new mom" early shopping throng and the fight to the death for the decent carseat and the Jumparoo.  Among some ickworthy things that were included in the sale:  Used kids underpants (ew)  and an at-home IUI kit (at least it still looked like it was in its original packaging, but ick!  Why would anyone want to do that kind of thing at home??).  DD was such a trooper.  Total time in that sale was 3 hours, one hour just waiting in line to check out and virtually no meltdowns!  Good thing we got lunch beforehand and she ate well.

Sunday was a lot of meh that I can't even remember what happened.

  • Varuna - I'm jealousE of your crepe restaurant!

Friday - we didn't do much at all.

Saturday - we went to week one of the Best Picture Showcase.   AMC Theaters are showing all Best Picture Oscar Nominees for this year, split up into 2 Saturdays.   This first Saturday were the following films: War Horse, Money Ball, The Tree of Life and The Descendants.   We had already seen Money Ball, so we went to lunch during that one.    Thank God that The Descendants was good, because War Horse was AWFUL and The Tree of Life was quite possible the WORST.MOVIE.EVER.    George Clooney saved the day.

Sunday - cleaned house, made a cake and a cream pie, then hosted DH's birthday party with my Dad's side of the family.   We had a great time, but ate too much, so I'm having a food hangover today.

This morning - our Jeep wouldn't start.   Seems like it might be a dead battery.   I'm glad DH was off today so that he can take care of that and I was able to take the car and get to work on time.    Please to be noting that we just spend a couple thousand dollars on repairs on both cars in the last two weeks.   I am SUPER EXCITED to be buying a new battery.
  • 6 - I'm sorry about your MIL.   and WTF @ her son.   Unbelievable.
  • Mine was good.  Dinner with friends Friday night. Errands, chores and a great basketball game on Saturday.  I got to watch D!ck Vitale (seriously knot?  I thought we got rid of the bad word rules.  It is a man's name, ofr Pete's sake!)  dance and listen to a 10 year old behind me scream at the refs (he needs to work on his insults, my personal favorite was "hey ref, I bet your name rhymes with....ummm... you're stupid!").  Sunday was some roaming with the H.  And then an elderly lady I know was selling off all of her houseplants in preperation for moving to a condo and I scored some really beautiful plants in really beautiful pots for $10 each.

  • AF - I'm glad someone else agrees with me about War Horse.  I HATED that movie.  I will be sure not to watch Tree of Life.  It is also very sad, correct?

6 - WTF at MIL being required to lose 20 pounds before they will visit?

  • zsa - The Tree of Life is not sad.   You don't get a chance to give an F about the characters, so you couldn't really care less what happens to them, not that you really know what happens to them.   In a theater full of people who really love and appreciate movies, I would say pretty much 70% of the people who hadn't already walked out, just busted out with nervous laughter when the credits started to roll.   The other 30% let out sighs of relief that it was finally over.   AWFUL.
The only redeeming quality was the mid-century modern home and furniture in the beginning.  So if it's ever on TV for FREE, watch the first 15 minutes for that.
  • I have apparently turned my house into a elderly assisted living home.  My GM is staying indefinatly after I took her out of a nursing home in Nov.  Then last week my H's GM had surgery so is staying with us (leaving today if all goes well at the Dr.).

A sample conversation between the two saturday - GM2 says I can't believe Ashlee (my DD) is naming her baby Mike (she is not, his name is going to be Grady), 1st GM says "who's Stacey"?  I am literally losing my mind.
  • Where does the son live? I've got some time next week. *cracks knuckles*

  • Since I'm home, I thought I'd stop by and see what was happening in the world of WW. This weekend kicked off my Mardi Gras break! 9 days off (technically).

Friday night I had dinner with my childhood BFFs. Saturday night we had dinner with one of H's childhood friends that came into town for work to drive a FIAT in one of the parades. We spent Sunday at home and had to skip the local parade b/c DS has a pretty nasty cough. All in all, a pretty easy-going weekend though.

  • H+e's in Colorado Springs Bmom.  Kick his ass.  He's annoying on a lot of levels.  sMIL has developed diabetes in the last couple of months as well so I think this is his way to "help."

  • Oh, that's only an hour and a half trip! Excellent. Maybe I'll take my fat ass down and just sit on him, reading medical studies about how diabetes is primarily inheritable.

im jealous of everyone's shopping trips, even dharma's ickworthy finds. a cold is kicking my asss right now and kept me lazy all weekend.
  • also, 6, i am sorry about your MIL's stroke.
  • I don't know what we did Friday. I don't remember so it wasn't memorable. Saturday The Boy and I ran errands and then went to the park. DH had to work. Sunday it was more chores and such. Writing that makes me think we did nothing but dangit, it was a lot.

6, sorry to hear about your MIL. Is your BIL some sort of picture of perfect health? Those without sin should cast the first stone, ya know?
