Wedding Woes

1940's Vintage and Disney ????

So my Fiance' and I have a very special place for the movie Tangled. It is the reason we would text all day at first exchanging lines and thoughts, it is the first movie we ever watched together,  I see the light is our song and he even learned to play it on the guitar  and sang it to me the day he asked me to marry him. So naturaly we decided that it had to have a place in our wedding. We did a Tangled theamed engament photo session and have small touches like inspired flowers, music and cake toppers. The only thing is we want to keep the wedding on the 1940s vintage side as well. My dress and our color scheme (black and white) are more that era and thats where our taste falls. So now the question is how do we marry the two so that it doesnt look thrown together??
Help Please.

Are you going for 40's glam or more "street party" 40's?  I think you'd have the best luck marrying the two concepts with the latter.

Do you have a venue yet? Definitely staying in LA?

Here are some inspirations for both from online:
    40's:

    "Street Party" vibe:

    Tangled:

My thoughts:  I think you can really have just some touches of the Tangled theme if you really want the 40's.  The 40's Glam Wedding style is very sleek and elegant, and Tangled is more soft and romantic.

Things that I think could work in to the 40's theme from the Tangled ideas:  the centerpieces from the third Tangled link (soft flowers on top of the dripping crystals);  lilac satin a-line bridesmaids dresses;  an outdoor area that has a canopy of paper lanterns to emulate the floating lanterns from the movie.  I think these three things mesh both styles pretty successfully (dripping crystals- 40's, soft flowers-Tangled; lilac-Tangled, satin- 40's)

Things to avoid: actually trying to do the floating lanterns- any time I have heard of someone trying this without practice, it ended pretty poorly!  I'd also avoid the temptation to throw in the frying pan, since that would look very random with the 40's vibe.

You could also have more very small touches from the movie; hidden Pascals, a signature drink inspired and named from the movie, table names inspired from the movie, first dance to "I See the Light", the purple of her dress and green for your colors instead of the red typically used for 40's-style weddings.
