My mom is losing her job

We have known for a while my mom was going to lose her job. She had a meeting today and her last day is 07/27. Man this casts a dark shadow on my wedding day. She seems upbeat though. She made a joke about being on vacation on her last day.

Re: My mom is losing her job

  • yikes! Sorry your mom is losing her job, but at least she is optimistic. Hope she finds something soon!

  • That really sucks!  Just tell her to keep the positive attitude!
  • I know the feeling, fiancee's last day is today he got laid off. We just keep saying everything happens for a reason, and it will work out. Best of luck!

  • I'm so sorry about this Macsine!! Tell her to keep up the positive attitude!! Good things always follow when you do!! ;-)
  • =(  Definitely know how that is!!  My mom will lose her job last year when her office with GM closes.  ugh!
  • I am so sorry. We went through this about 2-3 years ago. I think I was more sad and hurt than my mom was. My mom had the same nursing job for 20 years and when they were talking about downsizing the program (pain management), my mom knew she'd be let go since she was the most expensive employee.

She didn't waste any time though, she started looking for another job before being laid off. She landed a job in the same hospital but under a different department (hospice).

If this helps- my mom says she thinks this was a blessing in a disguse. She is now able to have new experience and it was kind of time for a change.

I remember I was so hurt for her, I was very angry- I was thinking things like "why did they do this to my sweet mom?" and then I started to worry about my dad since they work in the same hospital and he's been there for at least 25 years. I think I probably even cried more than she did. My mom had the same job my entire life and I could never imagine her doing something else.

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.
