My grandma... ::sigh::

On Sunday, my grandma (mother's side.  She's the one who likes Jell-o shots and hangs out with drag queens in NOLA.  She's very social.) was at church.  She and my grandpa are Eucharistic ministers.

She was up at the front to pass out communion.  I guess she went up one step too many, so she tries to discreetly move down to where she's supposed to be by backing down the step.

Welp, she lost her footing and fell backwards and hit her head.  Of course since this was in front of everyone, several people rushed to her aid.  One of parishioners is a Dr., so he was checking her out.  She felt OK (not woozy or anything), but when she tried to get up, she got sick.

My grandpa took her to the hospital and it turns out she cracked her skull open. They had to transport her to another hospital because they didn't have a trauma unit.  She spent 2 nights in the hospital.  She has to lay low for about 10 days and can't drive for three months.

I talked to her last night and she told me she didn't know why she backed down the step.  She said, "I guess the devil made me do it."  LOL.  I love that woman.

We're to be in TX in July to celebrate her 80th birthday.

    Poor lady, I'm glad she got checked out.  She sounds like a trooper and super likeable too!

    *gasp*

    I hope she takes it easy and gives her skull time to heal!

    Kuus, my grandpa will make her.  Trust me.

    And we'll all yell at her from long distance if we have to.

    I'm glad she's ok!

    She sounds like a pistol, though.

    Holy crap, how freaky!  Sounds like she's still in excellent spirits.

    My nephew fell off a diving board and broke his skull 2 summers ago.  He's perfectly fine now.

    Poor thing. Hope she is feeling better, and I'm sure she is getting tons of calls and well wishes from her church family.

    Oh when I called yesterday afternoon, she was unavailble due to having a room full of visitors.   I didn't get to talk to her until about 10pm last night.

    Oh wow.  I'm glad to hear she'll be ok.  She sounds like a feisty one.
