Wedding Woes

you really do learn something new everyday.

i assumed they just didn't want me to wrap my gift.

Dear Amy: The son of long-time friends is getting married, and he and his fiancee have requested "no boxed gifts." This seems to be the couple's polite way of saying that they prefer money. I think a gift is something a person gives, not something requested. What do you think?

When I first read this I thought that it was a "green" wedding where the couple doesn't want the wrapping paper. That idea is cool. This....not so much.

I agree with putting the gift in a bag. See how they like that one.

I wouldn't be able to resist a box once they told me I couldn't bring one.  They would be getting box wine and/or a jack-in-the-box.  Perhaps a boxwood shrub.

Ha. They're guests  can get very creative with that one.

The wedding I'm going to requested gift cards instead of gifts, and only had 8 things on their registry.

I would have never jumped to money from that statement.  I would think it meant they didn't want the box the toaster came in, just bring the toaster.
