Wedding Woes

You know what is difficult?

Getting seventeen people in four states to agree to a vacation location and budget.  My family is planning on spending a week together somewhere in June 2012.  We'll be lucky if we don't end up at a Super 8 in Toledo.

Anyone want to suggest area to aim for?  People will be coming from MO, KY, NY & MA.  We've been looking at renting a giant cabin in NC but then someone mentioned finding something in WV or PA were we could have wilderness and spend a few days in DC or another city.  We would love the beach, but beach houses are way more expensive than mountain houses.  One big house or two very close together.  We want to be able to cook for ourselves most meals.

This is where my friend got married. It was much nicer than I thought. There are several cabins available in the park. It is driving distance from Wichita.

We have some nice resorts in the VA mountains and they're located about 1.5-2 hours from DC.  I may be able to help you, especially with a group that size.  Let me know.

MrsConn, do you book Disney stuff? Just out of curiousity I would like to know how much it would be for us to all go to Disney for four days or so rather than a week somewhere else.  I'm pretty sure that would please everyone, but we've dismissed it as too expensive.

Toledo kinda sucks, but there is GTG potential since I have frends there...
    ;)

It would be too obvious for me to suggest Columbus, so I won't.   But Cincinnati has a ton to do for all ages.

My first thought was Gatlinburg- mountains, shopping, aquarium, Dollywood.

Yes, we do have a contract with Disney Vacation Club.  It's restricted to employees or our guests.  But it is INSANELY expensive.

This is how my family ended up in Chicago.
But I think divergent interets mean if you do this every year, oneyear is wilderness-y and one is urban.  Otherwise no one is ever happy.

I found houses in Orlando with 6+ bedrooms for only $800/week or less.  Dang!  Maybe we can afford it.  But the northerns would have to fly, so depending on if they can find cheap tickets or not...

Have you looked at houses in the OBX.  We rented a huge house there for our friends wedding.  The house had like 8 bedrooms right near the beach and was completely reasonable for 7days.
