Wedding Woes

Fiance's family member picked the same color scheme for their wedding????

My fiance's cousin just recently got engaged. Wr've been engaged for three months longer than them but they picked a date just two months after their engagement. His cousin's fiance just so happend to pick the SAME EXACT COLOR SCHEME as i did. (Eventhough i picked my colors three months ago)

What do i need to do?
Let her have the colors since they are getting married six months before us?
Or just keep my colors the same???

"Let them" have the colors? You have absolutely zero say in this matter. Nobody is going to notice that you had the same colors.

Yeah, i was never going to say anything to her. (I don't deal well with drama)
It's more like let her use the colors and I pick something else or keep my plans.

But i changed them anyways, yellow and grey. (:

Why on earth would you change your colors just because she's using them? I swear to God, nobody is going to notice -- six months later -- that you used the same colors. Neither one of your weddings are that important to anybody else but you.

Use the same colors. It is silly to change them. You plan your wedding the way you want it, colors and all. Don't change anything because someone else you know is doing the same thing. Most people won't notice and if they do... well, they have far too much time on their hands.

    Do what you want.

    And yellow and GREY/GRAY?  Um...ew?
  • edited December 2011
I think yellow and grey is cute!

I also "get" why you don't want the colors to be the same, but I agree that no one would notice.

FWIW, my FIs cousin got married an June, and we're getting married in a week. His family has been comparing the weddings NON STOP (which is really weird, and annoying).

When I received an invite for my FI cousin's wedding a few weeks ago, I realized it was the exact same invitation that we are using. It bothered me for five minutes, then I got over it. You will get over this too, I am sure of it.

There are so many different things you can do with your colour scheme. It's gonna look gorgeous no matter what you choose.

I decided to just change the colors since I haven't bought anything in those colors yet.
And for some odd reason she's copied everything else too; haybales for seating, mason jars, and bridesmaids wearing boots.
And i'm NOT changing everything I had planned, so changing the colors was an easy fix.
I didn't want them to look too similar. But I like the yellow and grey, it's vintage looking.
Google pictures of it if you don't think it'll look good, it looks awesome for an outdoor wedding!

    I agree completely!
I hate comparisons with a passion.

Here's a little tip from me to you: STFU about your wedding details around her.

    You're welcome.

Yeah, me and my fiancee have decided NOT to say ANYTHING around her.
She's too much of a copycat.

I loveeeee yellow and grey together!
    It's everywhere in Target, haha.

I know that a lot of people are using them, and i don't mind the fact that all of that is the same.
We're doing it a little bit different anyways.
It was just the colors that hit the spot.
But I'm over it now, I like my new colors better. (:

:)  There is a siver lining...she'll have to buy everything new (jars, hay, etc) maybe you can buy them from her (at a used price, of course)!
