Well, at least I won't be stalking the mailman.

It sounds like someone has a rejection auto-reply.

Eh, that's the biz. That's why I'm sending like eleventy queries.

The market's pretty vamp-saturated, too, so it may just not be the right time for me.

And at least I got a reply. My dream agency? Won't even send back an email if they don't want to see more.

You should get this month's Rolling Stone. The article on True Blood was pretty good - and I don't even watch that show. The creator was talking smack about Twilight.

I put my copy in the recycling last night. If I can fish it out and it is not yucky - I'll send it to you.

Sucks, but is to be expected.  You'll find a fab agent.

A friend of a friend just went through all of this with a suspense novel. I wasn't privy to the gritty details, but he did end up with a real publisher - Minotaur Books, which is part of Macmillan.  I believe he got a 2-book contract. Last I heard, he was looking for a different publisher for #3, because he was doing relatively well.

Still, hearing him talk about it gave me some serious insight into how much work you have to do post-writing.

My SIL has been trying to sell a book for a looong time.  And she hired all sorts of advisors and editors and coaches.  I feel bad for her because she has a lot of $$$ invested in her book beyond all of her time.

You could publish it yourself and get some wicked sweet artwork on the front like a poorly drawn vampire. Mislead people.

You're still ahead of where most writers ever get. Some of my favorite authors were rejected for years before they got a bite. Good luck.

    Booo.

My BIL's BIL has been trying to get his book published for quite some time.  It's quite a good book too.
