There's a lot of WTF going on in this movie that's supposed to be funny.  Movies like these are the reason I hate rom coms.

I saw the coming attractions to that and wondered if it was worth recording. maybe i will, since i like to waste my time anyway.

i'm hoping Bridesmaids lives up to the hype when i finally get to see it.


also - another movie *I* don't recommend? Hangover 2. I mentioned this before, but it is worth menitoning again. just watch the first one again and chase it with some Superbad or something.

There was a scathing review of this on Relationships a while back.  Sometimes I think that even though romcoms are marketed to women, they're made by people who have never actually met a woman.

Ditto on the Bridesmaids thing, wz.  I'm going to dvr it at least.

And we didn't enjoy Hangover 2 either.  They should have stopped after the first one.

Kuus - those movies make me wonder if the creators have ever met PEOPLE.  But I guess the movies wouldn't be "funny" if they weren't portrayed the way they are.

this is how mad i get when i watch movies like the backup plan or the wedding pllanner. oh, JLo. why do you encourage people to pay money for these movies.

Taw and wz, Bridesmaids was MUCH funnier than I expected.  Some of it was HILARIOUS.  Watch for the car + cop=trying to get pulled over scene.  DYING.

You know, I kind of loved The Wedding Planner.  It was pretty great to see two characters that sucked find each other, while the awesome woman who had been bogged down by a lame college boyfriend way too long escaped happily into the sunset.

I mean, she kind of jilted him, and seemed just so happy and relieved to ride off in a limo by herself.  That always struck me as kind of funny, romcom-wise, that the "loser" antagonist was someone cool who threw him back because she was tired of him.

Bridesmaids was way better than expected, but not nearly as much of a romcom as I thought it would be.

Ditto about Hangover 2.  The first one was awesome, the second one horrible and pretty much killed the franchise for me...on so many levels horrible, seedy, insidious and disturbing.

Although I am putting some serious considering in seeing the 21 Jump Street movie for a girls night sometime soon.

and i agree with you, dharma, that H2 was just seedy and disturbing. just not funny. it was almost like a horror film. it would have been better if it were a horror movie.

Dharma, I felt about Harold and Kumar Escape Guantanemo Bay the way you do about Hangover 2.

I felt like I went through a trauma after watching H2.
I thought Bridesmaids was funny but not as funny as people made it out to be.

H&K 2 made me cry -- for the terrible plot, horrible jokes, ruined careers of john cho and kal penn.  WHY YOU DO THAT?

oh lord. i had no expectations of H&K 2.

i am ashamed to confess that we saw Bruno. another DO NOT RECOMMEND. i felt like we got punk'd.
