Wedding Woes

Deep and Personal Part 2

Why do women usually forgive their kids of almost everything, but not their spouse?

I'll say why I asked in a minute.

You can't stop being a parent, I guess, but you can always end a marriage.  Plus there's also the matter of your kids being a reflection on you since you raised them, but your spouse not.  I don't know.  Maybe there's something chemical and evolutionary going on, too.

I'm of the opinion that there are certain things that shouldn't be forgiven, for both your spouse and children. That being said, I am not a parent, so WTF do I know.

I know a lady that forgave her son for stealing her checks, getting her kicked out of her apartment for drug use, and too many infractions during his childhood too count, but left her husband because he cheated.

Now, none of those are good things, but I just find it interesting what she choose to tolerate and what she doesn't.

I'm biased because of my background, but I think Kuus is onto something with her evolutionary/chemical theory.  If it were easy to cut off your kids when they did something terrible, the whole human race probably would have died out a long time ago.

I don't know.  I guess you assume your children are always learning and just making mistakes here and there without intent.  NOW, partners?  They seem to be given no benefit of the doubt and are assumed to have known better.
