When I came in there was another customer getting a pedicure in the same room. She was almost done, but while her toenails dried there was chit-chat amongst the four of us about the weather and new restaurant in town, etc. RM kept interjecting with random comments about her superman of a new boyfriend (we learned that he is a good cook and they are very busy in the bedroom) which seemed more than a little odd. But then the other customer (and her pedicurist) left the room. As soon as they were out the door RM said "I hate that lady."
Then I got the whole backstory. RM's ex-husband cheated on her with a friend of OC (other customer). OC is a regular at the day spa and has seen RM every few weeks for years but never said anything to her. Today was the first time they had seen each other since the divorce went down. When OC came in she tried to ask RM about her ex, forcing RM to point out that he is her ex now and she doesn't know how he is doing. Then OC said, "oh, then I guess you found out about the affair. How long have you known?" I had to agree that was a pretty tacky thing to say. And then there were a few other little comments and RM was fuming.
So since there was a little while before my appointment, RM called her boyfriend and asked him to come by and bring her something - just to strut him through the waiting room and then of course talked about him non-stop so that OC could take the news back to her friend.
Maturity abounds.
