My future husband and I have always wanted to get married abroad and it just so happens that my dad lives in South Carolina (we are from England) so we decided on marrying in SC, We told the people we would like to be there about a year and a half in advance so that they had plenty of notice, most people are fine with this obviously there are people who worry about money etc apart from one person who is my future husbands old school friends, he seems to really dislike me and talks down to me which is already upsetting and after my partner spoke to him he just talks down to me when my partner is not around (awkward) any way we decided to get a few of our friends together as it is now a year till our wedding and we wanted to give them a better idea of prices and dates etc so we can start sorting the flights, well this so called friend of my partners started saying that do we realise what a big commitment this is for everyone? (yes of course we do) It interferes with other holidays I have planned can't you change dates?(we have venues booked) Why do you have to have the stag in Vegas? (he is having one in Vegas and England to suit every one) This is going to cost to much but then contradicts himself by saying money is no object.
What am going to do the 5 days between the stag and the wedding? (we have loads of things planned and he proceeds to point at me and says why would I want to do the things you have planned) This is going to be a holiday for me but then contradicts him self by saying i only want to come for the wedding.
It goes on and on and on!! Basically should we feel guilty about having the wedding of our dreams? we know it is a big commitment for everyone that is why we are doing all the leg work for flight and accommodation for everyone so that we can make it as cheap as possible and to make things as smooth as possible for everyone who wants to come, we would not be offended if people cant make it we completely understand, are we being really unreasonable? It annoys me that I can let one person get to me so much but it has and I would grateful of any opinions or advice?
