old lady looked at the house again and asked her realtor to ask our realtor if there were a lot of "blacks" in the neighborhood.

Our realtor was like "wtf!?" but nicely replied - "I can't really answer that as I haven't spent an extensive amount of time patrolling the neighborhood, it's a very nice neighborhood blah blah blah"

I laughed so hard when H called to tell me that.

We *think* that eased her mind and that they are writing up an offer as we speak.

Oh, the neighbors beside us and the lady across the street are black. I wonder if she does buy the house if she will be like "liars!!!!!"

H was nice about the neighbor thing and just said "They are very nice, the kids come out to play, we've never had any problems with them" instead of "my wife hates the kids with the fire of 1000 suns"

Oddly, FIL asked the same thing about our neighborhood.  I was also pretty WTF over it.  Hell if I know, what do I look like, a census worker?  I can tell you about the people on either side of us (white/for sale, and black) and across the street (white, white, and white/Indian), but beyond that, who knows?

I'm admittedly naive, but it's strange to hear what some people think are perfectly acceptable questions to ask out loud.
