Background 1: BIL and SIL were supposed to go on vacation this week. SIL couldn't get the time off of work and they lost an $800 condo rental.
We're sitting at nephew's grad party and basically SIL fessed up that she never actually put in a request for vacation! I thought BIL was going to go through the roof. I give him lots of credit for biting his tongue and saying they'd talk later. I'd hate to be there later.

Background 2: DH's grandparents divorced when MIL was very, very young. I never knew why and never really thought to ask. FIL and MIL are divorced.
We're sitting at FIL's family reunion. One of FIL's sisters was saying how Grandfather used to send her MIL yellow roses from his greenhouse. The woman thought Grandfather might have a little crush on her...until FIL informed them Gradnfather didn't like any women.
Apparently Grandfather was gay and that would be why they divorced. The things you learn. I'm now thinking the "friend" MIL always talks about was more than a friend.
