Wedding Woes

Zilla

How do you manage to move all the time without killing yourself or someone else?

It is one of the most annoying things I've ever done.

Re: Zilla

  • LS, i had what might have been the equivalent of a nervous breakdown this last time. i never really minded so much, and this last move i finally realized why people find moving to be a huge PITA.

we're going to think long and hard before we move again. this move is temporary. i know we are out of our minds for moving, but we needed more space. the next move we make needs to be more permanent than 2 years.
  • I was thinking the same thing this morning.  I was ready to kill the kids and myself and thought "how the hell does zilla do this?"
  • Completely understandable re: the nervous breakdown.

It would likely be significantly easier if it were just H and I, but with Baby A on top of it, it's difficult. The condo is a wreck and running back and forth to the new house is a huge pain. Thankfully, it's only 5 mins away.

Of course, Baby A has a bad cold to make things even more fun.

  • well, we have had daycare so the kid was taken care of. thankfully, H was home the day of the move so he was MORE than helpful. last few times i DIY'd and it wasn't too bad, but this time we needed to do this as a team in order to make sure everything was moved properly.

but it was stressful because H works like a maniac so organizing everything was a nightmare. his work = my nervous breakdown. thank goodness daycare exists, though.

  • He's home with me today and Friday, although I may enlist help for Friday afternoon.

And on Saturday AM, my FIL is coming to get him bright and early so he won't be in the mix with the movers.

  • DH hasn't packed the first box and it's got me annoyed.  I also can't figure out how to deal with the cat.  I don't want to worry about her at either place when the movers are going in and out.  I also don't want to leave her in an empty house.  She's 13 and never been boarded and I'd still have to come back to get her so I don't really want to do that either.  Would it be bad to ask the vet to sedate her for a day?

Actual moving day the kids are going to my mom's for the day/night.
  • no. sedate the cat. not bad at all. we send the dog to the groomer and he spends the day there.
