At least, that's how it feels, so I guess it was a good call.
No negotiation yet on my contractor bill rate, but it goes into effect on Monday. He has probably 150 hours or so to give me right now, maybe more depending on how much new business comes in and how soon he gets a replacement FTE.
In the meantime, I get to change my linkedin status, update my website, get new business cards, and all kinds of other jazz.
The meeting itself was good. I basically said, "Yeah. I thought about it, and you're right. I should go back to contracting." He said, "Yeah, it just wasn't a good fit. You don't seem happy or energetic." So, done and done. No burned bridges, at least, though I doubt we'll have much of a relationship by fall. Unless there are big projects, which would be kindof cool.
So, YAY for self-employment?
