Holy shiiit. I had a fb friend announce at six weeks and I thought that was nuts.  First, I would never announce my pregnancy on fb, ever.  Second, if you wanted to, wouldn't you wait until you were in your second semester?

Yeah, that's what i'm thinking. She must have gotten a + hpt and got a blood test at her dr? She later commented that she went to the doctor today. There's no way she would've had an ultrasound.

I'm happy for them, but dang, that's early.

second semester junior year is better cause it doesn't interfere with graduation and you have time to lose baby weight before prom.

Depends on whether or not they want the entire world to know if she has a miscarriage, I guess.

I'm surprised she even went to her doctor this early.  IIRC, mine wouldn't even see me until 8-9 weeks for my initial appointment.

And no, I wouldn't AW it on FB or IRL this early.  No way.

I had a blood test and an ultrasound at 5 weeks, Candi.  I wasn't TTC, so we were making sure the home test was accurate.  If I wasn't pregnant, I was going to start up my BCP again and consider it wonkiness.

my doc said bloodtest woulsn't actually DO anything--tsill no visit until like 8 weeks.

Blood test really only before the urine test becomes positive, ie before the missed period.  Lately the urine tests are more and more sensitive.  Blood tests are useful if done every 48 hours (the BHCG should double) in cases of suspected miscarriage.  They're not routinely done at all, once a urine preg test is positive.
