Wedding Woes

tragedy whoring and complaining

dh and i got into a car accident.

dh was putting baby mo into his car seat on the driver's side and a cab came by and clipped the door with his side mirror, right behind dh.  the impact bent our car door and ripped the side mirror off the cab.  a few inches closer and the cabbie would have killed dh and possibly killed baby mo.

anyhoo, now i have to deal with the car repairs and i am annoyed.  the car repair places are like 15 miles away but in dc traffic, it's like 45 minutes.  and that's just to get estimates!  oh, and they will only give estimates on days without rain (WTF) so i have to take tomorrow off instead of friday, when i actually have the day off.

i am going to be extra mad if the cabbie's insurance will not pay for a rental while the car is being fixed.  when he hit us, he stopped to yell at dh.  y'all know i popped out of the car and started screaming at him.  if there wasn't traffic (aka witnesses), i probably would have dragged him out of the car through the window.

Re: tragedy whoring and complaining

  • insurance should also cover missed work.

you have a police report, right?

    glad that everyone is ok.

i'm still dealing with the insurance companies from the 2 jagoffs that rearended me last year.
  • yes, we have a police report.  he also cited the cabbie.

  • that sucks - so glad everyone's all right.  Even when it's someone else's fault, repairing damage after a wreck is a major PITA.

  • So glad your DH and Baby Mo are okay.

What the what at the cabbie yelling at your DH though. I would have hauled off and punched the fecker for doing something like that.

  • Thank goodness your DH and baby Mo are ok.  That's really scary.
  • ditto, thank goodness everyone was fine.

but for goodness sakes, what a PITA. barbie is right, though, insurance ought to cover everything. cabbie works for XYZ company, who will definitely have insurance to cover all bases.

it must have felt good to yell though, and also see the cabbie get cited.
  • if you haven't yet, file a claim with your insurance company as well. - you may be able to get things moving faster and they can go back to the cabbie's company for reimbursement.
  • Whoo.....that is scary. I'm glad everyone is OK.

  • Man, that is some effed up s.  Yes, I said "S".

I'm so glad Mr. Mo and Baby mo are okay, and WHAT the WHAT at HIM yelling at YOU!??!  No.  Not cool.

I avoided filing a claim like crazy just because I didn't want it on my record, but i think all insurance companies are different regarding claims files vs. claims paid.

  • if the other driver was found at fault (and in a case where he hit a parked car and was cited , and there's a police report) it won't hurt you to file a claim with your insurance company for this.

we have USAA, and they were pretty awesome to work with both times that i got hit.
  • Holy cow!  How scary.  I'm glad everyone is okay (well, besides the cabbie will will surely experience emotional damage from the verbal beating you gave him).

The two times that I have had accident damage I was able to just take it to a shop in my insurance company's 'network' without shopping around for quotes.  It made it so much easier.

  • Glad you everyone is okay.  I agree to call your insurance company.  They will be the only ones looking out for you.  It's bs that you should have to shop around quotes and that the cabbie was yelling at the people he almost killed.
