Wedding Woes

Y'all I haven't been this mad in years.

I'm so mad that I'm glad I wasn't carrying a pen.

Two teachers got together and decided which kids that want in their classes and handed me a stack of schedules to change. I gave them the side eye and asked boss lady what was this about.

She wants me to change them....like stat...like because that's what they want.

SAY WHAT??? Since when do teachers pick their kids. What happened to teachers teaching whatever kids show up?

Yes, the spirituals are being played.

I hope the kids never hear about this. How hurtful.

Did they just swap students back and forth with each other to get a better balance or did they weed out all of the problem students and throw them to some other teacher?  Because I think there could be some good in students being placed with teachers that really want to work with them, but not if some other teacher or student is getting the shaft.

Zsa, they worded it as wanting to *level* the classes(something I always do anyway) but I don't like these 2 people because they feel so entitled to always get things their way.

PLUS...PLUS AGAIN. Parents have the right to request their kids be placed in PreAP classes. It's just not based on test scores. I know these kids and I also know which ones don't always test high, but will get a B in Alg. You know, so why shouldn't they at least be given the 1st 6wks to see how they do.

So no, they didn't say, "I don't want these kids, they said, "I don't think they should be in PreAP classes based on their scores."

Yes, scores are important, but if the kid got an A in Reg Math last year, that also says a lot about their willingness to do the work.

I'm with zsa here.  Are they pawning the trouble makers off to someone else?

So they're basically removing the child's chances at working in a higher level class without their own choice?  Undecided

I was told by a pre-ap teacher that I would not succeed in her class. Obviously I was doomed to never do well academically. She was totally right.

PLUS AGAIN. Taking Algebra in 8th grade puts you on that AP track for HS which can mean money.

    You know what I'm saying.

So, what I'm going to do is tell the kids to have their parents come up to the school and speak with the Dean to get them in the class, if that's what they want to do.

    Thank you and Good Night.

NOLA, you are a savior...seriously.  Those poor kids, give them a freakin' chance.  Just because Teacher A & B decide that they don't think these kids will get it...doesn't mean the kids don't WANT it.

OOohhh totally unool.  Those kids are so lucky to have you.

My jr. high lumped together advanced math and advanced history.  You had to be good at both to be in the advanced classes.  Since I suck at history I was in the normal class.  The advanced class was supposed to be the only way to get into Advanced Algebra in hs.  Unless of course your mom is my mom and she takes on the nuns.  I ended up #1 in the class.
