Wedding Woes

BP# 4

what is one of your irrational fears?

sinkholes count, even though it's not completely irrational.

Re: BP# 4

  • Tornados (like sinkholes, not completely irrational, but the chances are slim)
    Clowns (also not completely irrational)
All of my teeth falling out

The teeth. I don't know if i grind my teeth during the night but I have frequent dreams about this and I wake up and they feel weird.

things in my eyeball.  All things eyeballs
    water/drowning

water in my eyeballs as the logical extension of the above--I have to be physically restrained for eyedrops.
  • Tripping and falling on concrete and having my teeth hit them and that SPECIFIC grinding noise.

    - The teeth thing for sure!! I've had dreams in the past about my teeth falling out. I've heard it can be linked to stress
    - Clowns are just plain creepy (thank you John Wayne Gacy)
    - Those "Kid in a Corner" dolls (there is a personal story behind that)
  • Heights, but I don't know if that is completely irrational.
    Big spiders. Totally rational.

  • YES I'm with Jojo, heights....sweaty hands, knocking knees, FROZEN.

And O-face, that's not one that springs to mind, but OMG, I know that one.  ugh.
(my child was grinding her teeth during bedtime story last night and OH that kills me.)
  • GBCK, that sound drives me CRRRAAAZZZYYYY.  Just the thought...*ugly cry face*

See, I didn't even mention heights and big spiders because those are COMPLETELY RATIONAL FEARS.</div>
  • Whenever I am home alone and take a shower, I KNOW somebody is going to come in the bathroom.
  • Also sinkholes.
  • Spiders, fires, clowns, Spiders, the sound/feel of finger nails on those little cracker jack-type hologram things (or anything like that), spiders.

    Did I mention spiders?
  • getting a tapeworm
being caught in a prison riot
being caught in an actual riot

  • Getting a tape worm is my DREAM! Eat all I want and lose weight!

    Tapeworm yes.  Ringworm no.
  • My arm being ripped off by the clothes washer.  I have to make sure it's completely stopped before i even open the lid...like it's going to jump out and catch my arm.

My hand being gnawed off by the food disposal.  If a spoon falls down there, I make DH get it.  I refuse to get it.

Corn worms.  So, so, so, so gross.  They don't drown either, I tried.  Now, DH has to strip the corn.

Hm, I know I have others, but those are the first few that come to mind.

It's a sad story but here goes... When I was a kid my mom, step-dad, brother and I were in the car about to get on the highway one day, all of a sudden my brother starts to scream "There is a girl on the train tracks". We turned and looked and sure enough, a little girl was laying across the tracks. We pulled over and ran to see what was going on.

Turns out there was a church nearby and she had wandered off and went onto the tracks. She was 3 years old. A train was coming and the wind blew her from one set of tracks to another (There were 4 or 5 sets of tracks). She was killed instantly. I can still remember seeing her in a little pink dress, face down on the tracks. That's why I don't like those Kid in a Corner dolls... They remind me of that little girl.

tath's much less fun a story than what I was hoping for.

I was hoping for...oh, I don't know, I hve a thing about mannequins because my crazy grandmother used to dress hers up and take them on road trips with her so she wouldn't bemugged.
(said crazy grandma also had a prothetic breast after cancer and kept her money in that so she wouldn't be mugged)
(^all true except I don't have a thing about mannequins)

that would have been kinda traumatic as a kid.
  • Going to prison(blame it on all of that ID watching.)
Living in an old folks home when I'm older and getting beat up.
    image
  • This is irrational and also just stupid. Stairways that are just stair and no riser (like its just the portion you step on, and its open) freak me. I feel like some how I'm going to some how fall through that opening or something and die.
  • NOLA, H works in a prison.  I'll tell him he's living your fear.
    image
  • -- 1.  My eyebrows being completely waxed off when i go get them done.  (when I'm stressing out, this is one of the things that I have nightmares about)
    2. Spontaneous Human Combustion.
    3. This is the one I know is sort of wrong, and kind of terrible, but creepy drunk homeless men and Carnival workers.  I've had them chase me (I'm not joking) when I was in Santa Cruz one night back in college because I only gave them $1 and I guess that wasn't enough.  The alcohol tends to also lessen their understanding of personal space.  They get too close, and that makes me uber uncomfortable.  I guess it's that whole "don't talk to strangers" thing from when I was a kid... I never quite got over it when it comes to those poor unfortunate people.

  • Ovens - I have this terrible fear that I'm going to fall in and get badly burned. I won't reach in a hot over, or even stand near an open one. I'm just too klutsy for that.

  • Oh and escalators. Blame it on Kevin Smith and Mall Rats, but I'm terrified that I will get caught coming off or getting on an escalator. My children certainly will not play on an escalator.

Cotton balls, ketchup, mayonnaise, and toilet tanks.

  • Styrofoam.  I'm weird I know.
