Wedding Woes

Hey ladies

Just checking in. I'm home w/ my sister now; she's force-feeding me soup, Gatorade and Ensure. Needless to say, chemo is no fun, but that dull pain I'd been feeling in my stomach is gone. I guess that means it's shrinking! Now I'm just tired and sore. I still have all my hair, too; I'm not sure when that starts to go, but I think DH is cutting it for me tonight or tomorrow.

An annoying but also comforting side effect is chemo brain. I'm not really capable to deep, penetrating thoughts. When my mind tries to wander it's like, "Uh... where were we going? Oooh, look Cartoon Network. Also, something shiny! Cool."

The wit isn't what it used to be, but I'm sure that's temporary. So what's going on here?
..

Re: Hey ladies

  • I think a temporary restraint in wit is worth it.  :)  Glad to hear your tummy is no longer in pain.

  • Hey chica!   I'm glad your stomach is feeling better.

I've heard the chemo can make you loopy.   You go once every three weeks, right?  It'll probably wear off soon enough before your next appt.

  • Hey lady! I'm glad to hear your stomach is doing better, less pain, more food. Always a good thing. Have you found a favorite soup? There are many many delicious soups out there, and you may be trying all of them before it's all over with.

Also: Ensure has pudding. I don't know if this interests you at all, but Mom seems pretty pleased with the idea, so there you go. speaking of pudding, can you have pudding?

  • I can have pudding. I'm not on any food restrictions anymore; if I can keep it down, I can eat it.

  • This is excellent news! Are you trying different things out?

  • Thanks for the update...sending lots of tumor-shrinking vibes your way.  I'm sure chemo brain will pass and, at any rate, your reduced wit will still outshine the majority.

  • All sounds good. The missing wit will return. If not, you can write a children's book ala The Missing Piece.
  • Not yet... the nausea the first few days was nothing to play with. I'm still eating pretty bland stuff, but I'll be able to branch out some in the next couple of days.

Another tough part is staying awake all day and getting my ass up and walking around. I don't want to need physical therapy along with the rest of this mess, so DH makes me walk up and down the stairs like the Gulag. It does help, though. I would go outside but it's been about 100 degrees here every damn day. Healthy people don't want to go outside, let alone my chemo'd ass.

Sounds like the best report we could have gotten.  YAY for the stomach pain going away. I do hope that's a good sign!

  • I'm glad that the chemo already seems to show signs that it's working for you.  And now you have an excuse for tuning out MIL.

  • *healthy/active/eating vibes* - gald to hear things are working out for you.
  • sounds like you need a wii fit.  it will cover the physical activity part as well as the staring at shiny things part.

ooh. wii fit is a good idea.  fer sure.  And you can track your weight, too.  I wonder if your already-so-skinny ass will gain or lose weight as the body-shrinking chemo slowly cures your ability to eat more and more fattening things.

  • Yay for good news!

  • Yay for the pain getting better.

I'm going to 3rd the wii fit idea. Way more fun than stairs.
  • i do love the idea of wonderhusband leading you on a personal, private trail of tears.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

    yay!

I reccomend animanics when a touch loopy.
  • Yay for the good news!

I'd hold off on cutting your hair off though. Not everyone loses their hair. However, if anyone can rock out a bald head, it's you.
