Wedding Woes

Tell me about Twitter

I decided to sign up so that I could follow some celebrities.  I have no intention of actually tweeting anything myself.  So why do I have followers already?  I guess just people hoping that I will follow them back?

Do you tweet?  If so do you link it to FB so that you are XPing all over the interwebz?

I haven't explored yet, but I'm assuming that you can make your tweets private somehow should I choose to ever go that route and actually tweet things to friends/family?

Also, do I have to send out photos of the junk drawer or is that optional?

Re: Tell me about Twitter

  • Also, any popular people you follow that I should follow, too?

  • I tweet. I have @baconsbits, which is funny things Bacon says (when I remember to tweet them), and @writingwinters, which is my professional Twitter. That one's connected to my Facebook fan page, so that whatever I post on FB is automatically tweeted. It gets a lot more use than baconsbits.

You can make your page private, and make it so you have to approve new followers. A lot of people - especially with commercial accounts - follow random people in hopes of automatic follow-backs, so they can advertise to you when you read your feed.

I don't do automatic follow-backs; I follow way more people than I have time to check, so I don't want my feed cluttered up with ads.

I like having Twitter on my phone; it's my go-to time waster when  I'm out and about. I don't check it much at home.

  • I opened a twitter account briefly so I could follow Donnie Wahlberg but I deleted my account because I found it kind of useless.  I guess I just don't "get" it.

  • I don't tweet, only follow.  I have 2 people following me.  One of them is the place where I board my dogs, so I get that, but the other is some random dude I don't recognize from anywhere.  Not sure when or why he started following me, but I since I never tweet I don't think that much about it.

The people I follow are pretty random:  The Bloggess, Greg Proops, Steve Martin, Kathy Griffin, Simon Pegg, Joel McHale, John Cleese, John Hodgman, Nathan Fillion, a few others and some political/news sites.

I TYPED UP A WHOLE THING ABOUT THIS AND NOW IT'S GONE AND I'M MAD, KNOT. REALLY MAD.

Let's see if this goes through, and then I'll try again to tell you all about my two Twitter accounts.

OK: I have two. @baconsbits, which is funny stuff Bacon says, if I remember to tweet it; and @writingwinters, which is my professional account.

@writingwinters is connected to my Facebook fan page, and whatever I post on FB tweets automatically. Occasionally I tweet independent of FB, but not often.

Many times, commercial accounts will follow random people in hopes of automatic follow-backs.

You can make it so you have to approve any new followers, if you'd like to be more private.

I like having Twitter on my phone; it's my go-to time waster when I'm out and about. I follow mostly libertarians (on baconsbits) and writers, publishers, and writing publications (on my pro), so I don't have any good recommendations.

  • I tweet sometimes, not often.  I love following the fashion people.  Because I'm a weirdo.  YT gurus.

  • I have an account I opened just to follow some internet celebs. A few of them automatically followed me back, idk why but hey, makes me feel kinda special.

I do tweet when I update anything from my phone because I don't really know how to work it and it does it automatically. FB is not connected however. The phone just kind of does what it wants and I just nod my head and go along with it.
