    I actually found the CHANGE homophobic.

    on noez, we must protect the kiddies from teh gayz and not let them thinkit's OK to call their clothes ghey!

    He didn't even have to touch homosexual "gay" at all.  All he had to do was explain what "gay" meant in this context.  I'm not sure if that attempt was made or not.  And in order to not make a big deal of it, he could have explained other words in the song, such as a bough of holly, don, apparel, etc.

    Seriously I've had this discussion with snickering third graders. I said it meant happy and moved on. Not a big deal at all.
