$541 AMERICAN DOLLARS?!

to replace ONE window?

Anyone know a licensed contractor in PA who can slap some duct tape and saran wrap over a hole in the wall, call it a window, and charge me $50 and a case of beer?

(the window we have is operational, but has a damaged seal, so condensation is between the panes. nobody can *fix* the window (that we know of) so it needs to be replaced.

  • I would be buying a dummy's guide to window replacement book.

Wha????  Does that at least include the window?  Maybe if it's a garden window, but otherwise no.  Our handyman could do a window an hour by himself.  And he only charges $10/hr.

    oh, i am
the installer has to be a licensed contractor, otherwise i'd be on the DIY website searching for "window replacement".

i need someone to give me the name of a good general contractor in our area - I've been asking around for recs, but most of the guys in our neighborhood are DIY guys.

ETA: the cost includes a *fancy* energy efficient window, installation, a $200 surcharge for installing less than 3 windows, and $42 for "grids" so it looks like the rest of the windows.

we would get to claim a tax credit for the window, but it's only like $100.

hmm. if you do 3 windows does it help even out the overall cost vs. tax credit?
