Rehearsal- who plans? who pays?

Hi there, I am getting married in nine months and have all the major aspects planned.  However, no one has mentioned anything about the rehearsal/dinner.  Our ceremony is at the reception site, so we will not be able to practice in the actual setting.  I still think that it is appropriate that we get together the night before to generally plan out who will go where and when etc.I know the grooms family traditionally plans/hosts/finances the rehersal dinner.  So far, no one oh his side of the family has mentioned their intent to do so, despite being involved in most of the wedding plans.  Is this a defunct tradtion?  Should I be planning to host my own rehersal?  Did anyone have a simmilar situation? Thanks for any advice!

Plan it yourself, if they offer to help out great, but do not expect it!

Generally, it is the groom's side to take care of it so I would have your fi talk to his parents to see if they had anything in mind or if they wanted nothing to do with it.

I would start getting some info together on your own.

My FIL are paying, but I"m planning since they are out of towners.  I would start researching ideas and speak to your FI about it.

I don't know what old school standard is, but there's not rules that imply you can't plan it. FI & I are going to plan our own. I figure it's our rehearsal, we should be obligated to take part in that.
